Was the traffic gridlocked all night long?
I'm thinking so. It was @ 11pm last nite and 4am this morning.
The 12 hour IR Loop shows a defin weakening of the convection along the entire western portion of the storm. This is good news. Rita is still a powerful category 5 hurricane. The weakening of the convection COULD be an early sign that the storm will start to lose some punch as the day wears on. Hope so at least!
Yep. There are lots of stalls and folks running out of gas adding to the problem.
I don't know. Probably. I was when I went to bed and when I woke up. 8:00 -- 4:00
Apparently some of them were.
Time for me to go make the donunts.
I'll catch ya later...
From what Fox and Friends' Rick Leventhal said this AM, the traffic is gridlocked going off the coast on every highway.
TV showed 5 am traffic on the bridge from Galveston to Texas City and it was still at a near standstill.
Apparently so.......:o(
Fox news reported hearing from a 'gridlocked evac'......said they had moved only 30 miles since last night @ 8:30 PM.
Adding to the trouble some cars now running out of gas, adding more gridlock.
The wife checked the traffic at 3:00 at I45 and Airport and it was gridlocked too.
roger that, It took me 8.5 hours to go from clear lake to austin and we left at 1300 on wed
My friend in Houston told me yesterday that the roads are all jammed. Galveston is virtually deserted. Getting ready to call her now.
On Bill Bennett's AM show, Texas Highway 47 was clogged and traffic moving no where fast. 50 miles in (I think) some eight hours. Gasoline is very difficult to come by. There is supposed to be a post-dawn plan to change the highway to all lanes heading out of the storm's target area.
