Galveston is still very worried, but if it passes to the east of THEM, they'll get the weakest hit of all, am I right?

Yes. If you look at a satellite image of the storm, you can see how lopsided it looks. The west is better beause the winds and rain aren't as bad and it doesn't extend out as far. You don't have to be as far out from the eye to miss the cloud sheild and as it veers off to the north and east, you don't have the whole width of the storm to pass over you.
