It's quite similar. You really should read the LP platform; it's a real eyeopener! Most of FR's self proclaimed Libertarians have never read the platform, or if they have, disagree with all but one or two of the planks, but have the nerve to trash President Bush, GOPers, and FREEPERS who disagree with their posts.

You may not like it, but seniority really does mean something here.

If you're talking about spotting trolls, then yeah, being here a while would be helpful. You haven't used it exclusively in that manner though.

Words have set meanings. "Invasion" meant something quite different, back when the Constitution was written, than the way in which you are attempting to use it.

There is a thing called STATES' RIGHTS. Many states and cities have laws which prohibit police, teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers, and others from turning in the illegals they discover/run into. As with hurricanes, what goes on on the local level, as authorities of first choice, is where your problem lies and NOT with President Bush.

Every poster I've ever seen on FR is aware that the Libertarian party has a very poor foreign policy and and very misguided open borders stance. That is why almost everyone makes sure to differentiate small "l" libertarian thought from the big "L" Libertarian party.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh! CFR went to the SCOTUS.

Lack of knowledge really hurts you and makes your stabs at refutation fall on its face.

You're comparing a natural disaster to millions entering our country illegally, across Federal Government borders?

Of course this crisis is President Bush's problem. How anyone could imply it is not, well, is just simply not credible.

No offense, but that is exactly the argument that the gun grabbers who want to redefine the 2nd amendment use.

I'm not trying to be difficult but you've been bending over backwards trying to give Bush and other Republicans a pass. I had very high hopes in 1994 that were quickly dashed when Clinton ran roughshod over the newly elected republican congress.

My hopes were rekindled in 2000 when we captured the whitehouse. The Senate was back and forth for a bit, but since 2002, it has been in GOP hands and all we've gotten has been spending bill after spending bill.

I like the president and I think he is a good guy - that doesn't meant that I should look the other way when he starts implementing socialistic policies and calling for and signing into law new entitlements.

To be frank, the GOP senate has been even more of a disappointment. I've given up on them though. If we all just cheerlead then it just reinforces such behavior and if we don't watch it, soon the GOP will treat conservatives the same way that the Democratic party treats blacks - throws them a bone every once in a while while they continue to reflexively vote democrat election after election.

You blame the congress for writing the law and the SCOTUS for affirming it, but give Bush a complete pass for signing it into law?

Why do you make such asinine attacks and always try to sound so superior by trying to attack another's credibility? It just makes you look silly - especially when you throw around your seniority. You've been a member of a website a long time - big deal. Grown men don't brag about things like that.

I pointed out in my post that Bush signed CFR into law but you just ignore that. If Bush had vetoed it, it is doubtful it would have been overridden and would have never reached the supreme court.

Seniority....?

I'm 58 Years Old and I have been a republican forever. I have an MBA and ran a campaign for my cousin for the State Legislature.

Frankly I resent my lack of support for Bush (or anyone elses) as being seen as a Troll....

Bush is an embarrassment to me and many others of my peers...His positions have been out of touch with mainstream Republicans and he constantly appears to not listen to his own party....

I have written hundreds of messages to the whitehouse....all for naught.

These BBSs are informative after a fashion but 90 percent of posts here and elsewhere are simply vanity and opinion and have little worth as information...so lets not get thick headed because we have to "Time IN" on Freepers or any other board....Big DEAL....woohooo!!!!

I've got a Yahoo email address that dates back to 1996....so what does that make me????

LOL

I'll be the first to agree with you. Good post.

And I'll be the second to agree with you. Great post.

Too many are treating the Republican party as some sort of cult that cannot be questioned.

Okay, I give up...you are beyond help and reason. You've dug yourself into that ditch and though the floodtide is rising, it's your ditch and you'd rather drown in it, than admit that perhaps you shouldn't have gotten into it at all.

You'd really be happier on another forum. You might consider going over to LP; unless the last shakeup there, not only cleaned out most of the unstable lunatics, but perhaps got rid of the fringers as well.

The Libertarian Party has lost members for the last decade. They have NO chance of ever wining any election of importance; not ever! Voting fringe is not only throwing your vote away, it IS helping the Dems. Oh yes, and it is not, not, NOT, in any way, shape, manner, nor form, a way of "sending a message"/ "teaching a lesson" to the GOP!

The Libertarian Party is closer to the GREENIES, than to anything considered to be Conservative.

The FFs were wise men. Like it or not, they were dead set against a parliamentary system and a parliamentary system is the ONLY kind of political system where coalition governments permissible. Since there will never be coalition governments here, there is less than no way for fringe parties/candidates to have any say to.

Ron Paul ran for elected office as a Libertarian, several times. He lost every single one of those races. Now, he runs under the GOP banner, gets elected, and sides with the damned DEMS, most of the time., He is odd man out, has less than no influence, and so, if you want to use him as an example, please don't.

You're dead wrong, yet again! Though there was a purge, long before you joined, of most of the big "L" LIBERTARIANS here, there still are some of them.

Please stop talking about things you don't know much, if anything about. It'll save you embarrassment and me the time and trouble of correcting your errors.

If the GOP adopts and implements the agenda of the Democratic party, what good does it go to be on the winning side.

I want a party that cares about being honest about it's positions and actually opposes socialism and entitlements. When I find a party that does, I will vote for them.

I care nothing about being on a winning side if that side doesn't represent my beliefs.

I'm NOT "comparing" the two things in the way you took it. I am explaining something which you still are finding difficulty comprehending.

Huh? I said that every member of FR that I've seen has known that the Libertarian party has its shortcomings. How am I wrong?

You act like the average FReeper is totally unaware of the Libertarian party's platform but you only you know the truth.

You're wrong. Millions are crossing Federal Government borders, and the Federal Government is responsible, regardless of what you say here. End of story. You keep implying that this isn't the Presidents job or responsibility.

He is the leader/head of the Federal Government. To imply that this isn't in his realm of duty or responsibility, is absurd to put it mildly.
