I live in nYC and I argued with more people and tried to convince more people to vote for Bush then you can know ( actually opened a few eyes) I came close to getting physically abused more than once in the City .. I was in the middle of the sharks at all times but I held my ground . I gave people articles to read and real news stories ..even quotes from here. I also helped with an aspect of the convention in NYC.
By the way , whats the purope of mentioning newbie .Is that supposed to question my conservative loyality or something ?..Cheap shot .I call it as I see it and I see Bush taking little action to counter the lies and slanders of the insane leftist Dems.

Then we all get CLINTON, or someone similar. Is that what you really want?

You dogs in the manger/cut of your nose to spite your face people need to rethink your positions.

How was Ronald Reagan conservative? Raised taxes, cut and run in Lebanon, did nothing for pro-lifers, ran up a huge deficit, and granted a huge amnesty to illegal aliens.

I didn't say a 'perfect" conservative. One of those will never run for, nor get elected to, the presidency.

RR pushed through the congress serious tax cuts, and then made the tactical error of cutting a deal with the DIMs in a [smaller] tax increase. We still were better off than before both. But yes, it was wrong to go with the increase.

RR did what he could for pro-life. Based on the make up of congress for his terms and the way the majority of the electorate was leaning, I don't see that he could have concretely done any more. I think his public support of the movement has a lot to do with the size and [the perceived] legitimacy of pro lifers now. Incrementalism has to start somewhere.

Lebanon? Pathetic from the get go through to the end. Putting miltary personel out with unloaded weapons is nothing short of criminal. It was happening before that and is still going on [Bosnia]. No excuse.

He did not run up (was not at fault for) the deficit. Total myth. Liberal urban legend. That is subject for another discussion thread, but it's total crapolla.

Amnesty? Big mistake. But, in his defense, he was expecting the congress to follow up with better immigration controls. I believe that, had RR had eight years of a pubbie controlled congress, he would fare much better with a domestic agenda (to my liking) than GW has so far.

You are long on opinions....of course they're your own. You might also find it useful to listen to Reagan discuss Lebanon--and also Grenada--in his own words. Time must have faded your memory: http://www.ronaldreagan.com/leb.html

And then there was the small matter of Reagan bringing down the Soviet Union. His grand idea that the MSM cynically dubbed as "Star Wars" was indeed revolutionary and was in large measure responsible. I remember him because he was not Jimmy Carter and because he gave the nation back its hope. I think that was one of his greatest achievements. If only Dubya could give us back the hope we once had as Republicans.

Yes, I agree. I also agerr that he's on the ropes lately and that bothers me . He lets too many Dems get away with too much crap. Much goes unanswered. His choice of bringing that scumbag Klinton into any position maked my blood boil.

...a fitting tribute to the man who had Monica Lewinsky perform oral sex on him in the Oval Office on Easter Sunday. Their advertising slogans are: "Always wear a 'Clinton' when you're getting a 'Lewinsky'!"

And a Big "thanks guys" to the Chinese for being real. Now how about a "Kennedy" for underwater sex...

Ann Coulter while spewing forth vitrioulic retoric usually, which I do not agree with, she is right on this point, and Bush's deficit government spending on Katria puts the last point perfectly with the pen on the pad!

Not a cheap shot. Lots of DU trolls around here, telling us that they supported President Bush, but now they're 'disappointed' in him......just like you did.

Most people who really supported President Bush are very proud of him, and still completely support him, even though we don't always agree with what he's done in every area.

I guess what you've said makes you kind of a fair weather friend. You have lots of company here, though. Lots of kicking when the President's down kinda stuff happening on FR these days. Lots of losing sight of the big picture because of small personal preferences and ideology.

And lots of DU trolls saying the exact same things as the 'purists' who are 'disappointed.' There's no way to tell when you signed up just a few weeks ago.

Au contraire. Ann is usually right, and is dead wrong on this one.

When you talk this much, you can't always be right. Missed this one by a mile.....

I don't support term limits for elected officials and don't believe amending the Constitution in the case of lifetime appointments to the USSC or the federal court is a proper or wise move. The Founders meant for government service at all levels to be a limited form of public duty. Understood. Let's leave it up to the electorate. We the people suits me fine.

Agreed.

GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH is the father of HEORFE WALKER BUSH. In order for a boy/man to have the Jr. applied to the end of his name, his entire name MUST be exactly the same as his father's name; as is the case of algore.

Upon the death of the father, who is the Sr., his son, the Jr., drops the Jr, from his name.

A boy given the exact name as his paternal grandfather, has the Roman numeral "II" attached to his name. When the grandfather dies, the numeral remains.

When a son is given the exact name of his father and paternal grandfather, the Roman numeral "III" is attached to his name and so on and so on.

Reagan put O'Connor and Kennedy on Scotus. He gave a BLANKET AMNESTY TO EVERY ILLEGAL, he didn't trim government spending, he raised taxes after lowering them, he took away just about every single deduction but mortgages, gave jobs to old cronies, pulled out of Lebanon, did less than NOTHING about terrorists and terrorism, and never did a damned thing about abortion...and that's just for starters.

But I'll agree with you wholeheartedly...YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND NOR KNOW WHAT CONSERVATISM IS.

For the most part I am proud of him . I just feel that his 2nd term is not living up to what I expected. The party in general has been "lazy" in reposnding to adsurd charges against them . In my opinion many Republicans in power are not acting as if they ARE in power.God forbid the Dems ever get the upper hand they will mop the floor with us.

"Lots of DU trolls around here, telling us that they supported President Bush, but now they're 'disappointed' in him......just like you did."

I wouldn't get myself too lathered up over what you think are DU trolls. There aren't many of them. I've been posting on FR since 1999. I have voted a straight Republican ticket in every national, state, and local election since 1980. I voted for Dubya twice. I was involved with the fund-raising effort on FR way back when they raised thousands of dollars to put a full-page FR ad in the Washington Times about the Clinton impeachment. I still recall posters like Cinderella and Boston and many others who were also involved in that effort. So I'm not a DU troll. If I don't think Jr. has made the most of his years in office, I'm entitled to my opinion without being labeled a troll. And besides Bush accepted blame for Katrina, so I know he won't mind my taking him to task.

It's almost funny how these hard rightists have deified Reagan when they hated him as President.

These purists are nothing but a joke. They're no more intellectually honest than the left is.

Fortunately, there aren't very many of them. President Bush has maintained support of nearly 90% of his base since he was elected.

These malcontents were never part of his support from the beginning.

Ten years after his second term end, these "purists" and UNAPPEASEABLES will be claiming that President Bush the younger was THE most Conservative president ever!

My, what a revelation. You're an absolute fount of familial expertise. Regardless, he's now become "Jr." to me--after all, he's just a chip off his old daddy's New England prep school block.
