Breaking: Jet Blue emergency landing, Long Beach, CA (UPDATE: Plane Landed Safely)
KABC Channel 7, live broadcast
Posted on 09/21/2005 4:21:43 PM PDT by kingu
A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.

OK ,that doesn't reassure me, knowing we're taking a flight in Oct. October????
Would you feel better if you were pinged every single time one of the tens of thousands of daily flights makes a safe landing without incident?

Much to O'Reilly's consternation. They were doing a split screen with the plane and BOR/Donald Trump.

The EMB 190 has 100 or so seats, the A320 has about 160 or so on Jet Blue.

Now would be a great time for any Christians on the plane to share their faith...

Dont know, but this happened for United a few years ago at O'Hare. It will be somewhat anticlimactic, at least I hope so.
However the nose gear will be ground off the people will have to evacuate on the tarmac.

Saw the shots of the emergency crews on the ground at LAX. I expect I'll see Joe Patroni somewhere among them.

MSNBC is correct. Although JetBlue plans to fly the Embraer 190, none are in revenue service yet. The first Embraer should have been or should be close to have been delivered to JetBlue by now, though.

I had a scissor link shear off during a drop test of a T-45 and had to check the old drawers from the bang it made. Even though the test area was surrounded by steel-lace curtains, the impact of the part hitting the curtains was enough to get you to jump a foot.

O.K. Rober Hager you think it's best that the nose gear breaks off. Then you pay for it!

A lot of people from the studios fly these flights....The entertainment companies bought a lot of prepaid seats for Jet Blue to come to Burbank Airport.
