WOAI has a reporter on the recon. plane and she just got a text message saying that all of the "hurricane hunters" up there right now are "absolutely STUNNED" at the intensity of this storm. Winds at 10,000 ft. are over 200 mph. That tears it.
Katrina was just a warm up.
IF YOU CAN, GET AWAY FROM THERE.

IF YOU CAN, GET AWAY FROM THERE. Certainly good advice. Recall Hurricane Allen in 1980. He stood out at sea off the coast of Brownsville and strengthened to 200 mph. I know because my small kids were in Brownsville with their grandparents. Allen came onshore like a butterfly thank goodness. My kids were only a hundred miles or so inland after evacuation.
There is always the possibility this thing doesn't weaken.

IF YOU CAN, GET AWAY FROM THERE.Will you call my Dad for me and tell him if they don't leave, you'll put out a contract for a 'hit' on him? That's about the only thing that'll change his mind! My Mom can't even swim.
