WASHINGTON -- Federal regulators on Wednesday announced a $4.5 million settlement involving deceptive advertising claims for the dietary supplements CortiSlim and CortiStress.
The Federal Trade Commission alleged that three defendants in the case made false or unproven claims about the two products in infomercials promoting the supplements.
The marketers made false claims about CortiSlims' ability to cause rapid, substantial and permanent weight loss in all users,

The snake oil salesmen probably raked in 20 million on the product, knowing it would cost them when they eventually got busted. In the end, the snake oil salesman walkss away with 15 million, and lawyers walk away with 5. Stupid people walk away with zip.
For awhile after this came up, Cortislim changed their advertising to tout the "Cortislim Lifestyle", in which I think they implied Cortislim settled your nerves or some such Snake Oil type claim. But I haven't heard any mention of CS for months now.
No loss whatever.
It was two hundred million according to reports when the government first began its action.
I always thought this product was about as effective as the 'male enhancement' pills. I've always assumed these wonder drugs don't work and probably have dangerous side effects. I'm always right about the first part, and usually right about the second.
Even better. I need to start a company and start selling something like this. Even if I get busted, I get wealthy, just need to grease the palms of a few lawyers eventually.
I never understood why talk show hosts I respect allowed these losers to advertise on their programs. The ad that drives me nuts now is that dorky "Three-Step Plan" to get rich quick while sitting around your house all day. It makes me change the station every time I hear it.
You mean Andy Willoughby and 'How in the world are you anyway?' I am surprised a respectable person would allow this sort of adverising on their program....
