Two in such a short timespan IS rare.

I think the US has only been hit by three Cat 5s since we started tracking these storms.

Cat 5's: Were they Andrew, Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 and Camille? Or was it the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 that was the third cat 5?
