Here's who I have on the Houston area list.

I'm not in Houston, I'm in Los Angeles. Prayers for everyone who is in the path of that monster.

But they will be on the way to safety, right?

Yep, that's the plan.

Hopefully they'll take my advice and head due north towards Waco, then head northeastward when they are in far north Texas, avoiding the Houston area altogether. I'm honestly afraid that their home is going to be badly damaged, and they'll return to major damage and destruction.

But at least they and their pets will be alive -- the rest is just details.

a 30+ gallon new trash can filled with water

New or not, take the trash out.

It makes the water taste funny.

We have a wussy in for Mayor of SLC, Rocky Anderson. He and Nagin are at exactly the same wavelength. Rocky was bitterly opposed to the Olympics here, then used the city's money to host a gigantic street party, then was totally P.O'd when hardly anybody came cause the main attraction was down town at the Olympic park, not on the grass by his City Hall.

You ought to check out how the LDS church handled the whole N.O. affair for their members. Every last one of them accounted for, out of there, and cared for from then till now and ongoing. MSM won't talk about that.

Checkin' in from East Montgomery County. Too many trees near the house to feel very safe with projected 60-80 mph winds in the area. Cut down the worst three offending earlier today. Still have too many within striking distance of the house so packing it in and headed to Dallas early tomorrow to ride this out.

I'll be leaving tomorrow I guess. Victoria is under mandatory evacuation orders and everyone is to be out by tomorrow evening. I don't have a hotel Res. until Friday evening, so I may end up crashing with a friend in Austin, who already has her parents from Galveston, as well as a couple of in-laws there. This will definitely be something to write home about.

I think it may already be too late to leave. Houston is a big parking lot right now. I've heard people are running out of gas on the freeway and a lot of the service stations are low on fuel.

Also, my wife is considered "essential personel" at her job. Part of the curse of information technology is everyone expects you to back up their stuff while they're bugging on out. In fact, someone just called from her work asking for some software disks that are worth maybe $100. She may even have to go in tomorrow, so we're stuck here for now. By tomorrow we should know better the track of the storm.

My elderly grandmother is already being evacuated as we speak by friends of the family. They're working with some paid home care workers to get a number of home and bed-ridden old folks out of Brazoria county. Hopefully, it won't be too scary for her. She gets to ride with some friends and she has her poodle with her, too. I would go down and get some of her things from the house, but I don't think the DPS will let me into Lake Jackson at this point.

Well, write "home" as soon as you can, friend.

Take care.

Nope, I'm not sure. My wife is considered essential at her job and has to help lock her workplace down tomorrow. Depending on the storm's track, we may decide to leave, but it may already too late.
