I think I'm more worried about tornados - though there is something about the way the land lies around our house that storms generally seem to split around us.. I don't know why - but when we watch them coming on radar you can see them split and rejoin.. it doesn't seem to matter what direction they come from.. it's VERY weird.
Funny you should say that, because we see the same thing around here. There must be some kind of high pressure effect. There will be an immense storm all around -- I'll see and hear the lightning & thunder, and I'll hear about the massive rainstorms and hail, but here it will just be overcast, maybe even sunny.
It can be very disappointing when we need the rain -- we just get teased.

Laugh... we sometimes we get the rain -but the lightening/high wind have not happened thus far.. in 13 years. It's very weird really - once we were watching a storm coming from the NW on television and the computer - the storm had VERY severe hail - we rushed out and got the car under cover (it was brand new at the time).. Lo and behold.. it split right around us! Bad hail/wind damage to the northwest of us and to the southeast - even in our neighborhood - but nothing for us.. whew.. We're up on a hill .. maybe that has something to do with it?
