That is indicative that this was a very highly classified program, probably in the "Black" world. The regulations require that not a single bit of data is recoverable from the media. Keep in mind that Government surplus computers slip through the cracks with classified data frequently.
The Colonel going public with this is probably why they rescinded his clearance.... Some of these systems take the best mathematicians in the country 50 man years to develop. They have to be protected.
There should be a closed classified session so that the Colonel can speak.
That's interesting and I'm sure you're right about the acid being poured on the computers.
Still, to the average observer, it sounds like a cover-up of a massive problem and the administration needs to assign a point person to deal with the facts before the media goes off on the wrong tangents altogether.
