The average liberal type benefits more from their relationship to the average conservative type, than the average conservative type benefits from their relationship to the average liberal type.
Don't ever come to the rescue or aid of these undependable folks. It's an unbalanced relationship favoring them, and on top of that they will take delight in questioning your smarts, character, savvy, etc.
Liberals like to remind us how smart they are. What help could neanderthals like us give?
Until conservative begin attaching real consequences to liberal antics (and they haven't, it's a failure of our side), they will only encourage antics to get worse and worse. That's where it's gotten us.

Yeah, tell your friend to stop getting his news from dumbocrat websites.
I have a couple of liberal friends as well. Both great guys, hard working family men but both liberal. But if ever I was in trouble those two would be the first I'd call. I've known them for many years and I'd help them at the drop of a hat.
- although. I really should add that never in a million years would one of my liberal friends would write an email like the one that started the thread.
(1) I would have to have a really low opinion of myself and of the value of my friendship, to waste friendship on a liberal - especially one that far down the food chain.
(2) To get rid of liberals, try sending them gruesome pictures of dismembered Iraqis with lots of approving comments. That seems to do the trick. (Whatever works, AFAIAC...)
There are several good articles here at FR from reputable newspapers - but you'll have to dig them out.
A couple of them tell the story of the environmentalists who SUED TO KEEP THE LEVEES FROM BEING FIXED.
If the guy wants to blame somebody .. he should at least have the facts. And .. just keep feeding the FACTS. Ignore the character issues. This person obviously believes repubs are horrible people. FACTS can help change that.
Also .. a few sentences from The Constitution which show that the FEDS don't have the right to just take over a state - it's the state's responsibility to ASK FOR HELP - which Blanco CLEARLY DID NOT DO.
Good luck .. you'll need it. But remember .. Rush has callers all the time who claim to have been just like this guy. The secret was they were overwhelmed with the truth and began to come to their senses.
And .. don't take it personal.

I agree 100% with you. I have started to pay less attention to people like these. They are so far deluded that they will never see the light. It's much easier for my blood pressure to avoid them.

Which is exactly why I responded the way I did. I've got a couple of left-of-center friends too, but if any one of them sent me that sort of whacked out screed it would be sayonara.
