Oh Stop.
Nobody cares.
Rather than whip up opposition, why not ignore them?
YEAH!! I'll be there. I'll be the midlle aged, slightly over-weight short guy wearing a male-pattern baldness hair cut short. Ummm can't really think of antyhing distictive to point myself out to other Freepers as I will be going on lunch break and will of neccesity be in office appropriate clothing. Maybe some other freeper can figure out a way we can all get together.
I'll be there as well. Shorts, white golf type shirt, Colorado Rockies hat (black with purple CR) and digital camera in tow)
The 'ignore them and they'll go away strategy' is always a failed one. Especially since the old line news media doesn't and won't ignore them. Ignore them at your own risk, the media will just laugh at you and continue.
Evil prevails when good men (and women) do nothing.
KOA is supposed to be promoting the event starting with the morning news. Sent release to Dave Lauer per instructions from our guys who spoke to Rosen and his people at the station.
Flags ... big flags, little flags, teeny flags. The commies hate our flag so they won't have them. This is what we tell everyone here...look for the flags.
Also - have FAXed the release out to the media. Working on emailing a copy now. Have not had a chance to alert the Veteran/Republican groups in the area. Will try - but we are unbelievably swamped.
See - Flags Galore at First Stops of National Pro-Troop Bus Tour
I emailed April Zesbaugh (and there producer Dave Jeffress) of Colroado Morning News on KOA 850am and offered to do a live report from the rally in Cheyenne. That will make a great lead in to mention the rally in Denver.
That sounds perfect. Keep up the amazing effort... everyone at MAF has been raving about you!!
It's a sight to behold isn't it? ;*)))))
Now that I taken some time to calm myself I will attempt to answer you and remain civil.
Anyone that is not self-absorbed cares and cares very much. All across America people are supporting the Troops ether in groups such as this or individually. Schoolchildren send cards, adults send care packages large numbers sending letters. Everywhere you look (if not self-absorbed) you see people thanking the members of the military buying them lunch or dinner and helping families left behind.
There are some who dont care. The one that are self-absorbed that only care for their meager existence and are curmudgeons. Some how these people cant see beyond and care about the global picture.
Which brings us to the issue at hand. As evidenced by a plethora of letters, posts and news stories (yes news stories) the military is aware of the overwhelming support from Americans. Every time moral is hurt by stories about those that are self-absorbed and uncaring or about those that are out and out against them, they are centered by stories of active support such as this thread. The activities of this weekend are/will be sent to them individually or by stories by the media (there are some good guys) and by the troops here. Although moral is very important it pails to the most important issue.
A brief history lesson is needed. The Vietnam war was won and the VC were ready to give it up until they saw the demonstrations here at home. This gave them the fortitude to continue the fight. When Nixon bombed the VC until they were willing to negotiate a peace. Congress decided to withhold funding to maintain that peace and subsequently the VC over ran the South.
The demonstrations were very successful because they were unopposed for the most part(other factors involved ) and conveyed the impression that a lot more people were opposed than reality. Hence the Silent Majority.
Now at the start of the Iraq war large numbers of the left added by the self-absorbed started demonstrations all across America. Only thing different from the 60s-70s was that people (Silent Majority) began to oppose them. Yes we were outnumbered, however we made impact. These people were used to having their way on the street. That is one of the factors for the utter failure of their movement. That is until lately where they see more self-absorbed people who say ignore them. They see an opining, a ray of light to maybe repeat history.
They are relentless; they are not going away no matter how much you ignore them. They will continue to do what they do. We are not whipping them up they stay that way. They must be opposed in every and any way possible.
The war we have is basically with people that are self-absorbed KEYBOARD WARRIORS who get satisfaction by talking about issues that they cant effect and are way over their pay grade and those who ACTIVLY do something that they can affect.
This is what it is all about:
