can anyone tell me ANYTHING i can plug into my laptop and it will pick up internet on the road,,,i know t-mobile has a cord to plug from your laptop to your cell---but they are out,,,anyone have any other ideas,,,,my wireless is on location only,,,,i would like to at least get online when we evacuate in case we are in traffic many hours

If you don't mind low speed then you could always get a dial up with a major company like USADATANET.com They have local dial up numbers in many areas all over the USA and you can use anyone of them to log on. The cost is only about 10 dollars a month.

I don't know if you have to stay with T-mobile, but Sprint has some really good wireless modems. You'd have internet access anywhere you could make a Sprint PCS call...

I'm not a computer person at all - so someone hopefully will correct me. But with the laptops now they have a wireless connection without a cellphone. You have the base in your house and you can be out on the deck or in your car parked on the street. And many people have the same connections. And although I believe it's illegal - you can drive around a neighborhood until you get a signal and check your emails. I imagine most cities are pretty well setup for this in the downtown areas (and legally then?)
