My dad left Long Beach MS (right on the coast) and went to Hattiesburg, MS. which is about an hour, maybe an hour fifteen from the coast for Katrina and he said he wished he had left the state all together!!! The winds were near 100 mph there....60 miles or so inland so please get out of the way of this storm!!!

I am in South Carolina and would welcome Freepers in my home! I will put my son on the couch and we will have one bedroom and a few other couch's and always got floor room! If you can put up with a couple of red wine drinkers, a 14 year old that thinks he knows everything and 5 dogs...you are more then welcome!!!!

my in-laws outside Hattiesburg had 15 trees down...two hit the house but no significant damage.
Fredric had been the measuring bar for Hattiesburg damage but Katrina rewrote that book.
