Your neighbor is panicking. You don't live in a doublewide trailer, and 75 mph is barely a Cat 1 storm. Having seen your home (but not looked for hurricane straps, etc. in the attic), I'd say you're easily good to go for 115 mph winds. It won't be pretty, and you will freak out when you hear the house actually groaning, which it would, but talk that your neighborhood will be gone is fearmongering in the extreme. Unless it looks like a strong Cat 4 at landfall and we're the target, we're going to be okay. Scared, but okay.

If you decide to leave, let me know and I'll try to get to your house to check on it after the storm passes.
