That sounds like it, but without the dishes flying from the shrew. LOL! I did not know that tornados make the soprano voice sound, I was afraid that some woman got caught out in the storm, except it was not a frightened type scream sound. It also did not sound like a freight train to me. It sounded like when you are inside a 767 or bigger plane and you are hauling butt down the runway to take off,and other planes are all around doing the same. It was scary, but the Hurricane bending my huge oaks down was scarier.
Let's not confuse things. Rod's island is quite a ways northeast of Key West. Key West hasn't even begun to experience the most intense part of the storm.
Moreover, the faster westward motion right now gives the ridge less time to break down and/or move... although, interestingly, there is no relationship - in the models - between landfall timing and location.
I'm in La Porte----they are saying that pasadena is evacuating tomorrow is that true?
Just heard that Naggin Nagin has ordered 200 busses. So far, there are only 150 available. I'm confused. I thought Texas was gonna take the hit from Rita, not NO. Maybe the FOX reporters have some inside info.....they're asking people in the FQ if they plan to ride Rita out or evacuate.
Thanks for the info. Tornadoes, I'm used to (although everyone had basements where I used to live). Hurricanes are another thing.
Here's hoping all's fine!
"TX Gov. Rick Perry on Monday recalled all emergency personnel helping with recovery from Hurricane Katrina to prepare for Rita, including almost 1,200 Texas National Guard members.
Chevron Corp., Shell Oil and BP all began evacuating employees."
Not really, but I used to live in west Texas and we all knew that song by heart.
Very accurate. Key West will be a different world for this storm. Marathon about 20-30 miles from the eye and Key West real close.
Just as well for the Middle Keys, that she waited 'til this AM to intensify, I think. Glad things went well for you.
I usually watch ch 10, Don Noe has been at it for a long time, always tells it like it is, no exaggeration, no hoping for a bad storm or anything. Plus, they show a cool map that shows the Bahama Banks and everything, looks like it's imposed on a satellite photo, has fairly accurate colors for the water, etc.
He was showing it last night, the "Pocket" of the Tongue of the Ocean and the Berry Islands showed clearly.
I guess those are straight news reporters you are talking about, I don't know who any of them are. Ch 7 used to be the worst.
Ed O'dell is an idiot on his best days, this does not surprise me. Usually Orlando salinas is very calm, and very good but this am he was a bit hysterical. He sure surprised me. Glad your Home is ok.
1st I heard about it. Will check
New Orleans isn't even in the probability cone at present. Rita would have to strike Lake Charles for New Orleans to see any significant weather.
my friend's sister (go figure) drives a bus for PISD and she said that they were using pisd buses on wednesday to evacuate pasadena,,,,,i'm not sure about that,,it's hearsay
Any idear where they're going to take them? What does Noggin need 200 busses for? I didn't think there was anybody in the city.
right side of eye the hurricane is worst winds and rain, levees are basically duct-taped right now, a slight move to the north and NO gets rain dumped and probably another round of flooding.
THanks samantha.
Thanks for the correction.
Just call the city and they have not made that decision yet. But they are talking about making one in 4 to 6 hours.
