I was trying to be nice. I remember a study that was done with families in poverty and indigent families. They had been given new homes and furnishings. Social workers returned over time and found that even with washing machines and conveniences for the maintenance of the property, the families were still living in squalor. Yes it is behavioral and the only way out is to climb your way out. Well intentioned do gooders spending other people's money have never done anything but exacerbate the problem.
