LadyX, I most respectfully disagree. I realize that in a hurricane of this scope, one has to have low expectations of what FEMA can do. But they didn't do even that.

The Coast Guard did. They were great and went right in and did the saves.

FEMA didn't even activate their civilian volunteer network -- of which I too am a member -- in a timely fashion. I know people who work at FEMA who are just disgusted by the incompetent political hacks in management.

Sorry, but FEMA screwed up big time.

Doesn't the Governor/Mayor have to request FEMA and others to come in and help. Aren't ultimately the Mayor or NO and the Governor of LA the ones responsible. The knew in advance what was coming and did nothing until the very last minute - saved their own butts and forgot about the citizenary they were responsible to and for.
