NORFOLK — Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war activist who made headlines by demanding to meet with President George W. Bush and setting up camp outside his Texas ranch this summer, is coming to Norfolk.

Sheehan became an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq after her son died there. She is scheduled to hold a press conference at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of St. Pauls Boulevard and City Hall Avenue downtown. Her “Bring Them Home Now’’ tour will present speakers at the veterans memorial in Town Point Park at 7 p.m., according to a press release.

Those of us in the largest Navy town in the country should let her know that she needs to crawl back under the rock from which she came.

Unlike her Code Pink counterparts who are at Walter Reed Hospital weekly, Ditch Witch hasn't the guts to go to the naval base?

Gee whiz, some MSM types assured me that her Texas protest was going to ignite a firestorm of anti-war protest across the USA. This is starting to look about as spontaneous as a May Day parade in Red Square.

I guess that's why the media calls August the Silly Season. They latch on to any story that comes along.

"She is scheduled to hold a press conference at 5 p.m."

Doesn't she have a job? I wish I could toodle around the country and protest stuff like....well, unemployed protesters.

She needs to fade away. Maybe go volunteer at a Vet hospital. Gets some counselig so she can move on.

Bottom line...2 wars, 50 million freed, democratic governments, women voting. Her son's a hero.

If she had any balls, she'd take her Iraq protest to Iraq.

The reason they pick Town Point Park is that they have the backdrop of the USS Wisconsin with is berthed there as a museum. They don't have to hassle with the base to get that "military" feel to their TV shots. John Kerry came there to campaign for that very reason.

Cindy Sheehan to bring Iraq protest to Norfolk

Why doesn't she bring her little protest to Baghdad?

I'll try to make it there tonight. I heard on the local radio station (FM 99) that she only had 12 people show up at her last rally. Ha Ha!

The visit was announced by the Hampton Roads Independent Media Center and Jim Polk, a member of the state Green Party. Polk was a onetime campaign coordinator for Ralph Nader, and he pleaded guilty to one count of election fraud related to a push to get Nader on the state presidential ballot last year.

Now those are some sterling credentials!!

How many people at these "spontaneous" protests have been bused in, or are part of her official entourage? I have to wonder.

I am pleased that the local paper printed my comments this morning in response to their call-in question of the day yesterday. They asked should GWB meet with her. I replied no, he already did. Why did she change her mind after she had nothing but good things to say about the president then?

I did not read all the messages but I was pleased to see a good number were anti Sheehan.

The folks there in Norfolk, by their own massive counter protest, should send Sin-dee Ali-Sheehan packing.
