Good morning everyone.

Today is Canteen Computer Resource Day. Here's a few things E.G.C. has learned in the 5 and a half years of using the computer.
It's always a good idea to download critical updates for your computer. Sometimes hackers with nothing to occupy their time do some bad things to people's computers like break in and styeal people's information. These critical updates provide patches for things like that so hackers can't break into your computer.
Also, always update your anti-virus software. Worms and viruses sometimes slow down your computer's performance. This is always busybodys with nothing better to do can get into your computer. We use Norton Anti-Virus for our computer protection.
Finally one of the more important things is to unplug your computer when there's thunder and lightning or when storms are forecast for your area.
A couple of years ago, KTEN Television from Ada Oklahoma did a report about a lady who went to bed with her computer plugged in. Stosm occured overnight and lightning struck her phone line. When she woke up the next morning, she found that the modem on her computer burnt out from the lightning strike and she had to have it replaced. It's always a good idea when storms are forecast to unplug your computer and your phone line before going to bed.
And that's just some of what I've learned since being on the computer starting in 2000.
