Unless employee morale imporves, the stores will not imporve. The same exact thing happened to K Mart in the 80s and 90s, and its reputation for poor service damaged its bottom line. People are willing to spend 10%-15% extra on items, in some cases even more than that to avoid bad customer service, a dirty atmosphere and long waits at the register.
Exactly the reason I refuse to shop at my local Wal-Mart. While it is cheaper by far than most grocery stores and is only 1 mile from my home, I prefer to shop at my local Publix.
Wal-mart here is filthy, their employees are only hired after promising to be as rude, slow and obnoxious as possible. Lines are usually an half-hour to an hour wait to check out.
At Publix, they have friendly and helpful staff. The store is always clean and well stocked, lines are always fully stocked with cashiers and wait times in minimal. They even bring my packages to my car and load them. I'll pay a bit more for a store like that.
imporve = improve
Are you high? Kmarts great and Walmart is my new best freind I was there for the 1st time yesterday I bought a pair of boots for $24 the same boots I've bought for the last 5 years, in the past I paid $80 for them in a sporting goods store, I bought another 11 items(same brand name) which in the past I would have paid $200 for and my total bill was $84. I went to one store got everything I needed saved $116 and saved gas not driving from store to store to get the lowest price. Another Plus was that 3 cute cashiers were fighting over who would ring me up.
Who is forcing them to work there?
My Wal-Mart has plenty of nice friendly people. What Wal-Mart do you shop at? The one in Pyongyang?
