The Medicare bill was bound to happen regardless who would be in office in 2004. Same with the education bill. There are things that no President can stop when its political time will come.
That's what you get when you don't elect conservatives to office.
You should know better then to peddle that junk around here. This has nothing to do with spending on national defense and security matters. Conservatives want to see increases in the military budget. At the same time, conservatives want to see other spending decrease. The current GOP Congress and this President have expanded welfare and entitlement in the federal bureaucracy like never before. The fact that PresBush refuses to veto anything doesn't help matters.
we are past the "saving lives" phase of this. what are we spending $200 billion on? does anyone know?
You "people"(despise intended) need to realize that you are a minority who in most cases do not vote for Republicans. So why the heck the GOP should worry about you.
The medicare pill bill really does need to go. This is a good time for it, before people get accustomed to having it.
The federal government should under no circumstances dirrectly underwrite the costs of rebuilding private assets.

You just said why it won't be done. Congress lacks the will to stop spending, (and who elects congress?) and President Bush lacks the will to use the veto to change that. (because in order to sustain a veto he needs those same congress critters we elect!)
Best I can tell the over 65's are not wild about it and would scarcely notice if it were indefinitely delayed or reappraised.

Then form you own "Absolute Conservative Party". I know a moron called Pat Buchanan who tried to do this and he got 1% of total vote in 2000. Please feel free to repeat the same idiotic experiment.

Despite the crippling effects of 9/11...despite inheriting a Clinton recession...despite a liberal MSM, despite Afghanistan...despite Iraq...HE CUT TAXES! He turned this economy around with a tax cut. He made us proud by hunting down our enemies and killing them. Not here. Over THERE!
There hasn't been a terrorist attack on any of our assets since 9/11.
OTOH, The Katrina disaster is a blessing in disguise for the GOP. Why else does the former campaign manager of Al Gore, Ms. Brazille speak the words, "....work with you Mr. President..." without sarcasm?,p>She knows his type of FDR emergency program has the 20/20 hindsight of the left's failure to raise the poor.
