I thought the phones were not working. Do infirmed nursing home patients have cell phones and blackberries? Something is not adding up.

I think he heard that his associate's mother died and made up a story he could tearfully present on TV. I doubt he knew the St. Rita's tragedy would become a major national story.
The media never seems to check out their stories anymore before airing or printing them. I am learning more each day about all of the good things that were going on during the storm and right after. Things the media certainly did not tell us. Gee, wonder if they had an agenda?
re-thinks...busted in a lie...typical liberal action.... the oops my emotions got me confused so let me retrack the statments and restate them so that it will match up with the propaganda.... liberals=scum
Not sure if it was "fooled", or a willing suspension of disbelief. The latter seems more likely.
His whole interview was a diatribe on FEMA. He said beaurocracy has committed murder. When he was asked if the blame should go on Nagin and Blanco for not trying harder and sooner to effectively evacuate he blew it off and said that they were told the calvary was coming. What does the calvary have to do with evacuating? I think it's very ironic that the real cause for the guy's mother's death was because she was not evacuated.
There is NO way he just misunderstood. He told a detailed a story. He made up a story, plain and simple, that went along with the rest of his rant. He never thought anyone would question it. He is disgusting and a liar.
"The news of St. Ritas Nursing home didn't break until days later."
It didn't break for the general public till later, but those in power knew it when it occurred and this man being the president of the parish knew it was a bold faced coverup well before Russert interviewed him.Russert still hasn't corrected this outrageous interview well over a week later.Hopefully it will gain legs now.
Not much. It's pretty busy with all those crucifixions.
The CAVALRY doesn't do much evacuating either.
And everyone in foreign countries who saw this or heard about it. They are all willing to believe the worst, and they will never hear this correction. The U.S. press is one of the biggest reasons we are hated in the rest of the world. If the U.S. press can't say anything good about this country, do we really expect anyone overseas to do so?

May I say how profoundly right you are? This lying piece of filth was shown several times on Australian TV. People in overseas countries get a terrible impression of the US from your MSM.
Tim Russert is as filthy as the rest of them and it's beginning to show on his very ugly face. Take a look at his face when it is at rest. The man is getting very ugly because he knows that he has sold his soul for his position.
Tim Russert might be stupid, and therefore easy to roll.
Tim Russert might be dishonest, pushing his own political agenda while claiming to be an impartial observer.
Either way, he's joined the BBC, the New York Times, CBS News, and Newsweek in the history books.
The price for selling out is to be branded as a liar for all eternity.
According to Aaron Broussard, the president of Jefferson Parish, south of New Orleans, FEMA "cut the parish's emergency communications line, leading the sheriff to restore it and post armed guards to protect it from FEMA," according to various news reports (Broussard initially made the accusation on NBC's Meet the Press).
You are so correct! Hopefully these actions by Broussard, Russert, et al this time rise to serious criminal actions during Federal, State and Local Emergencies and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.

State appeals court Judge Susan Chehardy and Jefferson Parish Justice of the Peace Steve Mortillaro have received federal grand jury subpoenas for testimony and records of political donations and any other gifts they have received from Bail Bonds Unlimited, their attorneys said Friday.
Revelation of the subpoenas came just days after 24th District Court Judge Kernan "Skip" Hand and
"Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard"
said they received similar subpoenas, and it further expands insight into federal investigators' work on a corruption probe that has felled two Gretna courthouse judges and snared a dozen other defendants since it began in 1999.

"The right thing to do would be for Russert to correct this story on his show, and make Broussard recant what he said and apologize for lying."
LOL, the Dem's are on a roll now. Even Kerry came out from under his rock. Russert will never correct that story,
he was too excited almost slobbering on himself in glee.
