She is very much in love with herself. She gave the Commencement speech at my college and it was 45 minutes of how great it is to be Catherine Crier.

Even the ultra-liberal feminist studies professors were disgusted with her conceit.

"nice looking woman & smart"

a.) She's getting a little long in the tooth and showing it.
b.) I'm not sure how smart she is.

total disconnect....

she blithers on on "courtv" about the criminals getting away with it and yet she should look herself in mirror.....

its the lunatic left that has made common sense and rationality rare in our criminal justice system....

to them, its all a game ....who cares who is murdered, savaged, robbed, humiliated.....just so the criminal gets 10 chances to prove some stupid techincality.....

"nice looking woman & smart! "

Years ago she was by far the hottest news-babe and I enjoyed watching her on the tube (no pun intended). Then she appeared on Jeopardy with some other news types. Jeez, what a disappointment. She was shockingly stupid and couldn't answer even the simplest questions including things you would expect a news-bunny to know.

Crier surprised me.

Heard her on Rivera the other night....
..He was interviewing Beth Twitty, and a former FBI guy, and Crier about the Natalee Holloway disappearance....

..after they discussed details....Rivera turned to Crier & held up her newest book...

..He gave the name of the book....and I wondered where she was going with it....

...but she left no doubt when she opened her mouth.

Rivera asked her opinion of Judge Roberts....and she said...(paraphrasing only slightly!)

...If he's exactly what he claims to be ...and not an ultra right winger, he will be fine.

But it's the ultra right wing types......'you know, the Evangelicals and the Fundamentalists'....that are troublesome...(end of quote)

I've often heard through the past several years that it's open season on Christians...

...and after reading her book excerpt, and hearing her words.....I believe it!

Evangelicals being called ultra anything is something I never thought I would hear!

I grew up when the Judeo/Christian mindset was stable and healthy....(or at least it seemed to be)

I guess the liberal propaganda machine has been more successful than I thought!

I have a long held view that James Dobson is a truly Godly man.....one I respect and trust.

Mercy help us......Open season indeed!

Yeah I'm really confused. She is the first good looking lady liberal I have ever encountered!

But a brief analysis:

1. I can't believe she called Dobson and his "Focus on the Family" fundamentalist! If he's fundamentalist, who's moderate?

2. She repeatedly warns of people returning to biblical law, but never gives a single example.

3. "And despite my concerted attack on religious fundamentalists and ultraconservatives in these pages, it is not their personal religious beliefs that I challenge; it is their stated intent to foist those beliefs on the rest of us by overthrowing our judicial system and America’s constitutional democracy."

Yeah, the beliefs they want to foist on the rest of us are things like being honest, loving your neighbor, working hard, respecting life, etc. Do we have to spurn all constructive/good beliefs just because they are held by some religious group? And the reason they want to foist them now, if they really do, is because our social fabric has been ripped to shreds by stupid programs like the new Deal and the War on Poverty and somebody has to fix things.

4. "When opinions are analyzed, judges regularly move from one camp to another regardless of their labels or stated philosophy. “Originalists” have discovered meaning in the Constitution that does not exist, and “activist” judges have exercised considerable restraint when asked to strike down or change our laws. "

Examples please? Otherwise she is just trying to dilute the meaning of both labels.

5. "Of course, the key to each and every one of these issues is the federal courts. And this drives the extreme Right to distraction. They have nothing but disdain for the founding fathers’ belief in three branches of government and the prescient system of checks and balances. Indeed, they are rewriting America’s revolutionary history to accommodate their point of view."

Seriously, is she on crack? The only thing that drives us crazy is that people invent a law and automagically through the federal govt have it apply to everybody in every state in the union. The point of federalism was to have some centralization, but also leave some rights to the states. Alabama residents would be happy with many of CA's laws foisted on them, and vice versa. And the reason why we hate judicial activism is that it breaks the system of checks and balances!

p.s. If she is so worried about the Christian fundamentalists' influence, wy isn't she complaining about the undue influence they give by shouldering the brunt of the support to the hurricane victims? (Another story you will never hear).
