Not really - since his original recommendation for the Medal of Honor was sabotaged because he was Jewish.
His ethnicity is an important part of his story and why he received his medal so belatedly.

I read all that. and I can understand the context.
But here's Rubin's take on his some of his own actions: "I did it because I was an American,"
I still think President Bush's statement was weird.
