Let's put this in perspective; One hundred fifteen people die per day from various causes in the state of Louisiana.

Louisiana Mortality Statistics for 2002:

Deaths from all causes: 115 per day

Deaths from alzheimers: 3 per day
Deaths from diabetes: 3 per day
Deaths from cancer: 26 per day
Deaths from heart failure: 30 per day

35% Percent of Louisiana population lives (lived) in New Orleans Metro.

Therefore over the course of 10 days, we would expect the New Orleans metro-area to experience 405 deaths without any natural disasters occurring.

Many of those hospital and nursing home deaths would have occurred with or without Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin's neglect.

But the NY Slimes are too stupid to do basic math.

I'm surprised that you would excuse the deaths of these elderly people by STATISTICS. Isn't that what the libs who think the death penalty is racist do? An unnecessary death is an unnecessary death, whether it comes in above or below the "averages."

If I may be so bold as to quote John Quincy Adams, speaking before the Supreme Court:

"Justice, as defined in the Institutes of Justinian, nearly 2000 years ago, and as it felt and understood by all who understand human relations and human rights, is—

'Constans et perpetua voluntas, jus suum cuique tribuendi.'

'The constant and perpetual will to secure to every one HIS OWN right.'"

Something SCOTUS ought to be reminded of again.
