Last weekend I, like so many of my neighbors, went into the house two doors down from me and looked around. It was the first weekend the property was on the market, and we were curious about how much the sellers were askingand whether they'd get it. I won't tell you the number, but it was higher than what similar houses had gone for in the neighborhood just last year, and much higher than any of us would have imagined five years ago. Many readers will have had similar experiences. I started thinking . . . what might this mean politically?

This seems very simplistic.
Right you are. It is. Almost all political "hit pieces" are.
The author talks in a sing song voice and tells little stories about Moms then and Moms now. And bursting bubbles and Bush's Republicans. And how everybody will be sorry ever after.

Michael Barone is one of the very best political observers and analysts on the scene today. "Simplistic" is not a word that comes to mind when I think of this brilliant, incredibly well-informed and deeply knowledgable man.
With all that alleged talent one would think he would avoid story-book "hit pieces then.
