I think you will see IPods for $5-$15 at garage sales within the year as the next new thing comes out.
Didn't you notice the Nano? The next new thing will be the next-generation iPod.

I saw the TV ad's for it and you are right.. it probably will be the new thing for the iPodofiles. Soon the "old" iPods will be on Ebay cheap.
