"I am willing to give up a large amount of privacy and a tiny amount of civil liberty in order to help prevent terror. That's why I grudgingly support the Patriot Act."
Why should freedom loving Americans give up any of their liberties? Since Islam and freedom are mutually exclusive and Islam doesn't distinguish between religion and government, let's just outlaw Islam. The dim O crats and republicans alike feel free to butcher our Constitution so this shouldn't be a problem for them. As much as the left refuses to admit it, this is a country created on Christian values, let's keep it that way. Just a thought.
Besides, how much is "a tiny amount of civil liberty"? The 2nd Anendment? It's only a few words. Habeas corpos? We really don't need proof to prosecute when we just KNOW the SOB is guilty anyway. Prohibitions against illegal search and seizure? If yer not guilty ya got nothing to hide. Where does it end? Who defines a "tiny amount?"
Since we haven't ever outlawed any religion, there is no precedent for doing so now and it's probably unconstitutional.
Outlawing any particular religion- no matter how odious- is the proverbial slippery slope. But maybe you're right and it's the only way to get rid of Islam in the U.S.
Let's call a Constitutional Convention to amend the First Amendment and set up a government approved list of religions.
Christianity is in, obviously.
So that means Satanism is automatically out.
Wiccans will have to go back underground, but they're used to that, and nobody cares about them anyway.
Judaism is in, most likely.
Islam is out.
Hinduism is probably out, too- the whole Kali/Thuggee cult thing.
Scientology is out- that's just a made-up religion.
Odinists? Nah, too creepy and violent, and there's the neo-nazi tie-in.
Bhuddism isn't too bad- they can stay.
But Shinto is out- tied to Japan in WWII.
The Rastafarians? Hmm. . . usually too stoned to be a threat to anybody but themselves. Take a poll.
The Native Americans can have their drumming and dancing, but it'll be illegal for everybody else.
What about Catholics? Are they really Christian? And is their first loyalty to their country, or the Pope?
Hey, if we declare the Freemasons a religion, we can get rid of them, too.
And can we declare Communism a "secular religion" and be rid of the Left once and for all?
(You see where I'm going with all this. . .)
