Potential storm surge maps for the Houston area at #996
Gotta ask because I am basically ignorant about these things. If this thing develops into a significant storm and hits in the worst possible place for Houston, am I safe up here in Montgomery County?
I told her to imagine a steaming hot bathtub filled to the rim with hot water. Then toss an entire case of extra-strength Alka-Seltzer in. Oh. And by the way. Just before you toss the Alka-Seltzer, pull the plug on the tub.
She cringed.
thanks for the ping. You can bet I'll watch this one from here in occupied Clear Lake City.
Galveston basically did away with the seawall. Enough sand was added to the beach were only 2-3 foot of seawall is left. So much for the curved seawall design.
Thanks for the ping. I live in Seabrook just blocks from Galveston Bay in Harris Co. My area of town is where the weather guys usually go to show the water washing over Todville road. If this thing reaches a category 3 we are packing up and heading out. Katrina was a real eye opener. In the past we've always just riden the storms out. Boy was Alicia fun in the early 80's and boy were we stupid! Now all I can say is the only rita I want has a marga in front of it.
Thanks for the ping. My elderly gran lives in Lake Jackson and we already have arrangements to evacuate her if need be. It's kind of hard imagining the storm surge reaching all the way to Angleton.
Thanks for the ping and the link Flyer! :o)
