292 "I value limiting government protection to those with an absolute need-- the children."   310  "How do you define the "absolute need" and how do you determine where it applies?"

Glad you asked me.    Here are two examples

I'm willing to make sacrifices to protect guys like these:
but these guys should grow up, stop trying to live off my taxes, and start protecting themselves.

I believe that the difference the two groups is absolute.

So you would protect a US manufacturing base that prohibits child labor, unlike China and Vietnam, and a US manufacturing base that prohibits slave labor, unlike China and Vietnam, etc. That ensures a modicum of worker safety. That ensures that there is a retirement savings for those workers, I.e., social security. The money spent on China is *poof!* gone into the PLA maw.

I am glad to hear that you are "willing to make sacrifices". Its time to start doing so.
