there's no need to wait for some sort of mostly invisible signal LOL. Invisible to men, but the women see these things. One young lady who I didn't even know turned to me once and, in reference to another woman, said 'do you need to be hit with a brick'?

YES, often we DO need to be hit with a brick. It's a guy thing. Guys generally are not attuned to the whole "hinting" thing. On a hunting trip we'll notice a barely-visible footprint on damp grass 20 yeards away, but in interpersonal relationships, we DO need to be given strong and unambiguous signals.
