True, but if men aren't knocking on your door, a woman has to change her tactics. I knew two guys in high school who were cute as hell, but I just remained friends with them because I thought that's all they wanted. Come to find out....years later, that they both had wished they would have persued me and courted me. Guys are expected to persue and court. What we really like, though, is an unambiguous "green light" that communicates "I like what I see in you -- if you ask me nicely, I WILL say yes (and not sue you for harassment!)".
