Your apology is accepted. I must admit, that I was allowing myself to get a little carried away last week anyway. Most likely, it was due to having seen how women keep coming back to a number of NASTY men, who I know a little bit(and I mean NASTY, in that they do NOT treat women good, are HEAVY drinkers, drug-users, not faithful, and so on... but the women seem to keep on coming their way.... REGARDLESS of how bad they use them )!!And these guys CONSTANTLY remind me of how "popular" they are, with women. Now admittedly, it is only for "another notch", but it just upsets me, that women would want a man whom they KNOW will treat them bad. Not to mention, last week was bad, overall. So, I got a bit carried away. We both did. Well, that is in the past now. So, let's "shake and be firends"so to speak, (I know this is on-line, but we can PRETEND, can't we)?

Btw-- Your profile says you are working on writing a Sci/fi novel. I wrote one, that has a good number of Sci/fi elements, so, maybe I can give you a few pointers, if you need some, to help you in your writings. NOW.. If I could only get a publisher for mine.....

Sisku,

Sorry but you lost me.

I'd rather listen to hoot (great barren) owls screeching.

I don't watch TV, could in fact live without one (except my Fox News).

I want the news and am in fact a news junkie.

Other than that I don't give a damn about some silly show.

God created woman as an equal to man.

I heard Dennis Prager, who does teach bible study, once say that a definition of one of the descriptions of Eve in Genesis is that God made Adam 'a hel-pmate who opposes him.'

The really does describe almost every woman in my life. There is lots of wisdom in The Bible! :-)

For the same reason, I strongly suspect that as much as women say they dislike a spouse who cheats on them--I suspect they secretly find it titillating; as once again having children by such a man would help to ensure the wide dissemination of your genes throughout the ensuing generations.

Well it does make a woman kick in her competitive genes, at least that's how it affected me.

Then I wanted to KICK somebody's ass.

Sounds like you are implying that's what I am. LOL!!! Actually there are times I wish I did have that in me.

No No, absolutely not! I only mean to say our society is very bad about monkeying with definitions. Sometimes I think the democratic party is built on a bunch of people trying to convince the world that 3 is 5 in some contexts ;^)

Let me share an analogous story:

One morning, my sister was complaining about how the fella that took her out dancing the previous night began acting ugly when she started dancing with other guys. She felt this uncalled for as they went out "as friends."

I asked her "MB, if once you got out to the club, you found this guy was funny, charming, and a good dancer, that "friends" crap would have gone right out the window, wouldn't it?"

"Well, yeah," she replies.

"You think he doesn't know that?"

My point is...there's nothing easier than convincing yourself of your own rectitude.

That is very true. It made me remember the following:

I have been to "robing ceremonies" of judges. (for those in rio linda, that is where judges take their oaths) The male judges almost universally thank their wives. The only time I have ever seen a woman thank a husband was when she made special not to thank her EXhusband for showing up with their children. (she was not remarried)

It just hit my funnybone. Yes.....I understand. I spent half my life on concrete...and the other half in my woods here. I've had the experience you speak of..only in a different way. It was electric.. almost like an old movie. You know....eyes locking from across the room....no words exchanged because you "knew" what the other was feeling. It thrilled me..yet scared me too. I've never experienced that since. :)

Mileage?

i.e. experience

generalizations do not invalidate first hand experiences no matter how valid the generalizations are.

She was a motormouth. She never stopped talking and was sharing an awful lot of personal information early on with someone she had just met.

The easiest way to be considered a fascinating conversationalist, is to just let the other person do the talking, while you sit there with an interested expression on your face

They should be asking men out not waiting for men to ask them out.

Couldn't agree more! I think it's flattering when an attractive woman asks me out!

Lainey,

Okay one more and I gotta get out of here.

It really can be an electric, magnetic thing.

It can be scary too, and I've been known to have my heart jump nearly out of my chest.

I just try to find something productive to do, like catch a damn fish.

At least with my experience, a fish is a pretty challenging animal, can certainly fool a human. I guess all humans crave this, this challenge of being able to Conquer.

That is all well traveled ground Victoria. I believe exegesis on the elements of "the curse" are much more pressing for alleviating the ills discussed on this thread.

Oh... ok. Thought you were referring to my age. ha!

After my experience...I realize my antenna goes up with certain phrases or attitudes. I always thought I did everything I was supposed to in a relationship... i.e., the Proverbs woman....but in fact......I did too much. I've been told I should have let my ex crash and burn... just like you would an unruly child who refuses to learn the rules. Although I didn't "carp".... I DID resent not having a husband, lover and friend in that glorified roommate! *chuckle*

Maybe I'm shooting too high...but I know there are strong, gentle men out there....and I just don't want to settle for less. For right now... I'm content in life without drama. :)

Ever heard the phrase... Better a crumb eaten in peace....than a feast, in strife?

Here we go again, on this eternal topic. I do not know why we spend so much time on this kind of stuff, all it tends to do is get us ticked at one another. Face it, it is a difficult world we live in today. So, it is no surprise, that what should be "normal", is no longer normal, and vice versa. As for women not being able to find men-- there are PLENTY of men out there, just salivating at the chance to go with women like the one in the beginning of this article. True, these men will just "use and abuse" these women, and mainly see them as a checkbook, and a place to sleep at night(AFTER they have bedded someone else earlier). BUT-- then some women seem to dislike the kind of men who would NOT do these kind of things, seeing them as "boring", "wusses", "too nice", "nerdy", and so on. .... and here we are.......

It is sad, that we as a society have arrived at this point.

On another note, Nowhereman,. if I may sidestep a little....

There is a CHANCE, and albeit a SMALL one, that a new opportunity MAY be opening up for me, financially.

That is, in installing and upgrading HT and commercial distributed-sound systems.

There is a BIG opportunity, for QUALIFIED techs, in these areas.

Let me explain what is going on, for a bit:: At the beginning of this week, I was asked to accompany the owner of the shop I work for, to give some advice on solving a problem, with a HT system, and a DS sound system(whole house sound), for a client, and the client just happens to the the OWNER of JTM meats.. SO, I go to the house with him, ad I discover that SOMEONE, has done a real, slap-dish,half-@ss job, of putting together their HT system, and REALLY botched the DS system! They had ONE receiver, for ALL of the HT speakers, AND it also had to run the whole-house system, ON THE SAME CHANNELS!! Now, THIS was a rip-off!! Cheap, small, bad-sounding speakers, NO sub, and so on!! And because of the terrible overload, the DS sound was NOT working well LOW volume, and distortion!!

From listening around, this seems to be a trend. Too often, HT systems are put together by people who are more concerned with making the system LOOK good, to the owner, and NOT the way it sounds, and then, getting their BIG check, for doing this, and moving on!! So, I recommended some changes, to the system, that will make it sound a LOT better than it does now, and STILL look nice, and add TRUE 5.1 SS to the system WITH a sub. Also, the whole-house system will be able to function properly, when we are done, and I will get paid WELL for doing all of this.

Then, this last Friday, I find out that an owner of a restaurant wants his establishment wired for sound, with several zones. So, early next week, we will go there, and asses the situation, work up a plan, and put together a distributed-sound system, with paging, and XM radio, for this guy,and I will get paid good for doing so, AND this system will sound as good as it looks, which is what is important to me.

So, maybe these will be isolated incidents.. I hope not, because this would be a great opportunity for me, and the shop, to see to it, that HT and DS sound systems were PROPERLY installed, and did not just LOOK good, but SOUNDED good, and the customers were getting a good deal, with competent installation of their systems. I saw at Homerama, how badly people can get "ripped off", by incompetent installers, and would LOVE to get into this market, and provide a good, reliable, HONEST service, to those consumers.

Invisible to men, but the women see these things. One young lady who I didn't even know turned to me once and, in reference to another woman, said 'do you need to be hit with a brick'?

YES, often we DO need to be hit with a brick. It's a guy thing. Guys generally are not attuned to the whole "hinting" thing. On a hunting trip we'll notice a barely-visible footprint on damp grass 20 yeards away, but in interpersonal relationships, we DO need to be given strong and unambiguous signals.
