RED[-state] Americans feeling under served by the entertainment industry have less to whine about these days....NBC's hit show "Medium" is giving them a ringing endorsement from the Other Side.
The show which starts its second season tonight is based on the cases of real-life medium Allison Dubois, who serves as a consultant to the series.
In a twist from the usual snickering at conservative characters and notions, the first episode had a defense attorney balking over the Texas Rangers questioning his molester-murderer client.
After the Rangers and their consultant (Dubois, played by Patricia Arquette) bulldoze past him, the lawyer calls after them futilely, "Don't make me call The New York Times!" This was a laugh line and not only was the joke on a defense lawyer, it reduced the Paper of Record to a punch line.
As she explains in her book "Don't Kiss Them Good-bye," the real Allison Dubois had vowed to put away child abductors and molesters after being the victim of an attempted abduction herself as a child.
The pro-military, pro-gun wife and mother of three reports that when she is asked whether her being used in jury selection stacks the deck against the defense, she answers, "I hope so" (and snaps us out of our foggy coma of moral equivalence between victim and assailant).

I really wish I could have posted the whole thing, especially since the Post's registration is particularly tiresome. (It wouldn't ever let me register until I clicked some boxes to agree to get junk emails. Luckily I haven't gotten too many.)

Anyway, nice to see a show with a different angle, and always nice to see someone point out that the NY Times is a joke.
I'd just add "check your local listings" as in a part I left out she says the show runs on Monday nights, but if it's starting today, well, that's Sunday, so I'm not clear on that detail.
It is a great show, all things considered
This is a great show, but I do think it's on Mondays.
I like the show. Patricia Arquette is an odd choice to play the lead, though. I saw the real woman in an interview once and she is very different.

I met Patricia Arquette briefly last year when I (almost literally) bumped into her at Costco in Culver City, Ca. She was very friendly and down to earth. Not what I expected at all!
"Not what I expected at all!"
LOL! And she shops at Costco, she does sound very down to earth.
I remember her as being good in the things I've seen her in, but I can't remember what any of those things were.
It is on Monday night at 9 p.m. CST. The season premiere is this Monday. I do love this show because the bad guys are bad and she wants to put them away.

Patricia doesn't reflect the trendy Desperate Housewife look. She's earthy, kind, considerate and usually ends up "apologizing" for something or another. Her husband is the glue that keeps them together, IMHO.
Throw in her unique ability to solve a crime and it's a show you can enjoy with the whole family.
Try it.
I best remember her in "Stigmata".
She was married to Nicolas Cage for 6 years..sigh.

My wife loves it! ;)
Reminder - Season premiere on tonight
By the way - Patricia Arquette won an Emmy last night - and mentioned the troops in her acceptance speech. Not political - just said hope you come home safe.
Surface wasn't too bad either.
Was it? I missed it.
I also have watched 'Medium' from the beginning of its first season, and do enjoy watching the show...and you are right...she knows who the bad guys are, ,and she wants to put them away...
I especially liked the episode, where the crime she was dreaming about, had not happened, it was a dream from the future...in the end, Allison had to confront the young gal, who was in her dream, and tell her, that someday, a guy, in such and such a car, will try to lure you, and say this and that to you, and I am warning you now, get away from this guy, he is a bad guy....
I know that that young lady, thought Allison was absolutely nuts...I am wondering if they will ever do a follow up to that particular story, and we get to see that young lady, get away from the bad guy, and realize that Allison knew what she was talking about...
I think that is her daughter
Do you think that is her daughter in the future?...I am not sure I agree with you...didnt Allison know the girls name, and that is how she found her...or did she know her name?...your take on this, has a special spooky twist and I like it....
