Yeah, could have been a retractable 172, in fact from a distance thats what it looks like.

Looks like 172RG. They do complex training in those lots. I did my CFI in one, because you have to demonstrate complex, AND spins, and that's about the only airplane certified for that.

Looks like it might have been a C-172RG Cutlass, and I think the gear is electric, not sure what the emergency proceedure is, "shake it" in flight.
Appears that the people on the ground knew what they were doing.
