"Surely we should expect more conviction from a Supreme Court nominee, especially one who will be case-selective within his Court!"
Do you have any idea what you are saying?
Tell me? What nominee has ever said he was against abortion in front of the committee, and plans to overturn it?
Like it or not, we need conviction when he gets behind the bench. Conviction now simply sends him home.
I've yet to hear you address what I said about the reactions Snowe, Collins and other GOPers will have if he plainly stated he was prepared to overturn abortion.
Until you can get honest with me on that matter, you are simply ignoring the obvious.

(Two supreme court vacancies. Hopefully more on the way.)

That's partially true. In fact, in 1981, he advised Sandra Day O'Connor on how to avoid a question regarding her views abortion. But the question was from Jesse Helms, who demanded to know if she supported or opposed Roe v. Wade. The problem is not only abortion yes or not, I accuse Roberts not having a clear judicial philosophy, most of all not having a conservative view (lost constitution) in the mode of Scalia or Thomas.

(Is Roberts really a conservative?)
