may not be in line with conservative values but we cannot appear any more vulnerable to the world (i.e., terrorists) than the MSM has already portrayed us to be.

Expecting people to show self responsibility is not showing weakness to anyone. Private insurance would rebuild much of New Orleans and the other affected areas. Why not let insurance take care of what it can and then see what is left to do?
