Correct my correction if this is a form of welfare also. Is it not? I would call subsidized housing a social program that constitutes welfare...while not direct payments.
We have the MSM crying uncle in having to praise President Bush and we have Freepers bashing him.
Go figure.
If someone with a (D) next to their name does it then it's welfare and socialism. If a person with an (R) does it then it's extending hope.
The point I've been trying to make and find the facts to support is a statement made to me years ago by someone who had lived in the area....Moon Landrieu (the Godfather of the clan) was head of HUD during the Carter administration. WHen he returned to NOLA a lot of the houses were bought or foreclosed on and rented at inflated prices using HUD (That's our money) to pay the bills....The price of houses/rent is inflated in the area....(See one of the latest woman's magazine for a featured house that the occupant paid over $100,000 We'd pay less than 30 for the same thing here)
What I've been trying to get information on is who owns these houses....My friend said corrupt politicians had become very wealthy tapping into HUD funding....So infact we are already subsidizing NOLA at a very high rate, but the money is going to the rich not where it is needed....
My step daughter (who lost everything in the flood) has her PhD and says rent is extremely high in NOLA. Her neighborhood is upper middle class professional and very modest home.
In "W" plan he will help the residence own their own homesand bi-pass HUD and rental property....Some folks aren't going to be very happy....and am not referring to the "new" home owners.
