Street theater, panels and workshops are on the agenda of groups participating in a Sept. 24 antiwar rally on the Mall. Several of the groups released details of their plans at a news conference yesterday.
Officials with the Mobilization for Global Justice said they will demonstrate against the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which have their annual meetings in the city that weekend. The group will organize a teach-in on Sept. 22, a theatrical farce at 18th and H streets NW on Sept. 23 and a march from Dupont Circle to the White House on Sept. 24.
The Campaign to Stop Torture will have panels and workshops Sept. 24 and 25, culminating with a mock torture trial in which the group says actor Martin Sheen will play the role of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.
Empower D.C., an advocate for low-income residents, plans to protest the loss of low-income housing Sept. 24. And Operation Ceasefire announced the addition of Joan Baez and several other performers to the Sept. 24 antiwar concert on the Mall.

It's a damn shame that he has to be such a raging nut because he really is a very good actor.
LOL. Once again, the Left's "Big Day" will devolve into a montage of special interest whiners. Keep up the good work.
So they are playing this from the perspective of a pimple on Rummy's butt.
Street theater? OMG. These boobs still think it's 1968.
For some reason, Dylan's "Desolation Row" is playing in my head.
Allah is pleased...
For some reason, Dylan's "Desolation Row" is playing in my head.
Add to the list of movie actors not to watch.
It IS a shame.

MAS FREEDOM PROMOTES CALL FOR JUSTICE COALITION MOCK TRIAL OF RUMSFELD, GONZALES AND TENET
Featuring Actor Martin Sheen Portraying Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld
(Washington, D.C.) - In its continued effort toward the abolishment of the use of torture as a means of soliciting information from prisoners, the Muslim American Society's Freedom Foundation urges you to support the Call for Justice Coalition in its campaign to "Stop Torture Now" and to participate in "Call for Justice Weekend" activities.
On Sunday, September 25, the Call for Justice Coalition will host a mock trial at the Holiday Inn on Capitol Hill, located at 415 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. The Holiday Inn is located several blocks from Union Station on Metro's Red Line.
Martin Sheen, the acclaimed actor who plays fictional President Josiah Bartlet on the popular television show The West Wing, will play the role of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in the mock trial which will portray the prosecution of Rumsfeld, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and former Central Intelligence Agency Director George Tenet on charges of authorizing and ordering the use of torture in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay.
On Monday, September 26, participants in the Call for Justice Weekend events will visit Capitol Hill and other government offices to share what they have learned about torture, and to insist that all forms of the practice be abolished.

What a jackass Sheen is.
Yep. This timely Sheen bashing thread is much better than any vanity I could've posted.
We could stage a mock trial of Code Pink for treason.
You have got to be kidding me
Good Grief
*****will play the role of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in the mock trial which will portray the prosecution of Rumsfeld, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and former Central Intelligence Agency Director George Tenet on charges of authorizing and ordering the use of torture in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay.*****
Is there any doubt in any ones mind what the outcome of this mock trial will be?
GUILTY on all counts of course.
These people are funny.
That is a matter of opinion.
Gee, that's such a sexy cause du jour.
Why don't you start with the nursing home murders and expand to include all the neglected, underserved and sometimes just plain abused elderly and infirm right here?
Oh, I forgot. Incontinent, drooling, wrinkled, old isn't sexy, is it?

Sheen plays Rumsfeld.
They will be protesting globalization, Bush, Iraq, Bush, Katrina, Bush, the "lack" of low-income housing, Bush, Abu Ghraib, Bush, global warming, Bush, capitalism, Bush, energy policy and Bush.
Instead of being laser-focused and thinking about future strategy, they are protesting on a dozen issues and attacking a man who cannot run for reelection.
It's great.
Too bad. I think Sheen would be perfect for the part of Saddam hiding in a spider hole.
