Return to the original pre-Ike version. Problem solved.
Bingo. I agree completely. Pick your battles, this one is just silly.
ABSOLUTELY! Thanks for bringing it up. I wouldn't mind it being trimmed BACK to what it was, originally.
Works for me...
"Return to the original pre-Ike version. Problem solved."
I have always spoken the pre-1954 Pledge. It's the one I learned when I was in first grade. It seems to work passably well as a pledge of allegience to my nation.
However, I don't mind if others use the "under God" phrase. Why should I?
Return to the original pre-Ike version. Problem solved.Exactly. I don't know the details of this case, but Newdow was too clueless to challenge the 1954 law changing it, with all its blatantly obvious religious purposes. What isn't challenged, the justices can't consider.

Stop making sense, Vet! (Say, wasn't that the title of a Talking Heads number a few decades ago?)
Heck, as long as we're stirring up a little s..., here's a little number to get the CREVO folks going too:
Whoa! Maybe we do a RESET on the pledge?
Amen! "Pick your battles" should become a litmus test before we hit our collective 'outrage' button.
Yep. The pledge is full of neener-neener wordings designed to poke a stick in somebody's eye (e.g. "indivisible" was intended as a screw-you to southerners for whom the war was a living memory), and could use some streamlining.
