A firearms expert testified in the trial of Chai Soua Vang this morning that many ammunition casings, bullets and bullet fragments found at the scene of last November's shooting were fired by the rifle police seized from Vang.
William Newhouse, an expert from the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, also testified that using a telescopic sight impedes a shooter's accuracy at short range.

"using a telescopic sight impedes a shooter's accuracy at short range."

How accurate do you need to be from 10 feet away?

If Vang is going to take the stand, they are desperate.

Wow! Jury might have the case by Friday? Defense must be depending on the "they hurt my feelings" defense big time!

also testified that using a telescopic sight impedes a shooter's accuracy at short range. No it doesn't.
As a juror I would have trouble believing anything this witness said after hearing this statement.

What he should have said, is that at close range, it is easier to acquire multiple moving targets with the scope out of the way.

We're just going on a reporters quick morning update and there just might be some paraphrasing going on.

I wonder who else the defense will call? You are right, they must be desparate if the murderer (not alleged in my book) will testify. The "aren't you dead yet?" phrase should end any defense excuse/reason/cause.

A scope might not impede a shooter's accuracy at short range, but is does restrict the field of view at short range.

People don't mount $1000.00 scopes on $200.00 rifles.

I would have no trouble taking on multiple unarmed targets at close range with my AR-15.

None.

Not everyone practices using a scope with both eyes open.
