I mean long term, big picture and I think that was understood.
You do not believe in incrementalism, apparently.
I believe in doing as much as you can and if that is some small delta, then so be it. I do not feel Bush has even approached doing as much as he could. For example, his proposed budget allocates money to groups like Planned Parenthood. Couldn't he at the very least have proposed a budget without money for these groups? Not even once in five years?
You will learn, if you haven't already, that all-or-nothing politicians do not get elected to national office.
I understand that full well. Does that excuse George W. Bush's actions? Being a Republican does not excuse a politician from scrutiny, at least not from me (and, for the record, I voted for Bush in the last election; I was too young to vote in the one before that). So far, Bush has done little more than delay the march of the liberals, he has done nothing to stop it or reverse direction.
How conservative or "how true to the constitution" ?
Many of the posts here sound the left when pushing their issues.
Roberts is more conservative then 99% of the people here on FR but it's about the constitution not if he's conservative.
The Democrats like this guy WAAAAY to much to suit me. Is Roberts another Souter? Time will tell. It will be easy for Roberts to say abortion is the law of the land so there is nothing I can or will do about it. I DOUBT Roberts is more conservative than 99% of the folks on FR.
Politics is the art of the possible.
As I said, I do not believe Bush is even doing the possible.
Pretty cool - from someone that is comfortable with plagiarism - eh?
That is your assessment and you are entitled to it.
