If Dionne is correct, then the Democrats will filibuster against John Roberts when the Senate Judiciary Committee passes him to the floor for confirmation, and the filibuster will be successful on a party line basis. I'd like to make a bet with Mr. Dionne about the Roberts confirmation, but I think even Mr. Dionne knows better than that.
In other words, Mr. Dionne knows his editorial is a crock, but he had it published anyway. He is, therefore, giving us a view into his fantasies. I'm not too sure I want to know much more about Mr. Dionne's fantasies, as these are scary enough.
