Nightline treated the Congressman Jefferson story like the major scandal it is. Koppel even got Mayor Nagin to say he wouldn't have done what Jefferson did. They also mentioned the previous FBI search of Jefferson's home. Jefferson's excuse was that he was just visiting his district. The Nat. Guard heavy vehicle plus 6 guardsmen sat in his flooded yard so long (1 hr.) that it got stuck and another vehicle had to come to get the first one out. A helicopter tried twice to "rescue" the Congressman.
