After being passed over for a chance to replace NBC News chief Neal Shapiro, MSNBC boss Rick Kaplan's job is in jeopardy, The Post has learned.

Sources say Kaplan is likely to be out as the head of the ratings-challenged cable news network by the end of the year.

Prior to joining MSNBC, Kaplan was senior vice president at ABC News, a network he rejoined after a three-year stint as president of the U.S. division of CNN.

As I have mentioned before, I went to college with Rick Kaplan. We were in the same fraternity. He never activated because his grades were not good enough. Needless to say, his intellect never impressed anyone.

I have never understood how he got where he is.
