Oh, so we shouldn't expect big government to take care of all of us?
Back in the day, I was in Washington, DC when they announced a huge blizzard was coming in. I got a box of Moon-Pies and a bottle of Jack Daniels, and I was set.

If I lived in SF and there was a disaster, I'd probably worry about my lingere more than anything else.

Jonathan Stein, an information technology consultant who lives in Oakland, believes that's good advice. He clipped the Web site's supply list from the newspaper.
"I never really expected there would be immediate support for people," he said. "Katrina's an eye opener that the government is not really looking out for us so much."
He probably expects government to secure his firewall, manage his antivirus strategy, and push out MS updates to all of his clients. Heck, I bet FEMA is running a BDC for him as well!

A city-sponsored Web site, http://www.72hours.org, includes lists of everything well-stocked San Franciscans should keep in their home and cars to be ready for the next big emergency when power, running water and telephones may be unavailable for days.
---
Wonder if they include medicinal marijuana, condoms, Ecstasy, sourdough, wine, beer and dungeness crab on the list, not to mention a couple of illegals to clean the hot tub and tend the garden?

Oh don't worry San Franciscans there will be plenty of homosexual decadence parades there to entertain you while your city burns, and then you can blame the earthquake and the resulting disater on GW Bush.

What an arse. No surprise -- Mr Mayor IS Ed Asner's nephew, after all.

I want to know what kind of incompetent can NOT survive for 3 days UNLESS he/she are seriously injured/infirmed or otherwise incapacitated?
Reports of starvation and people eating dead bodies came out witin two days after the flooding of New Orleans.
Government care from cradle to grave & womb to the tomb is sick and those that expect it are sicker!!

We have an emergency kit in the car too. Although we are well prepared I am (since last week) thinking a gun may be a good addition to my "kit".
