There was a bus for them but they refused it. That bus was offered before Katrina. This emergency was not front loaded. It became a nightmarish clean up operation. People who were talking on the phone to their family members from that home were doing okay until they drowned. The insurance for that nursing home will make a huge settlement. They can't possibly defend the abandonment of all those innocent victims. It's indefensible.

I saw a local doctor who not once but twice called the owners, and encouraged them to get out.

The owner told the dr. that they were going to evacuate. It seems inconceivable that they would walk away from there, leaving half those patients. Just beyond belief.
