I hope that we can get a transcript of Talabani's remarks. He repeated over and over "Thank you President Bush" with tears in his eyes. Gave me chills and made me so proud!
I like that he said 'Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government.'
Oh, that's what he said.
Thanks.
LOL - kinda changes everything doesn't it?
#####
Subversives in the White House transcription bureau, or a liberal computer program, or a lot of recent converts to religions other than Muslim?
He must have meant and/or said 50 million liberated people.
The way it's being spun I figured he had personally requested that the Lord smite New Orleans or something.
Context is everything.:)
Actually no ... I LOATHE the media!
My favorite thing he said is:
...to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right...
Please note, he DID NOT explain HOW the feds did not do something right. LOL!! Way to go Mr. PRESIDENT!
ROTFLMBO!!! I've been repenting since I first heard for the stuff that flew out of my mouth!
Thankfully the transcript went up quick. ;*)
Do you think it's a bad-looking thing for him to be seen as saying "I take responsibility"?
I think he sounds like a grown-up. I don't think this is going to sting him at all. I think it makes all the other whiners in govt and the media look like children.
And given that the federal government did it's job right, he has nothing to apologize for.
It's being a man and being a leader.
If you hear or read the comments in context, it's perfectly clear what he was doing.
I agree!
Oh, my comment wasn't about the President's comment. I was responding to the observation that after Talabani expressed such gratitude and optimism, the first question and only headline from the event was 'Bush takes responsibility for disaster'. I don't think it will hurt him at all.
The HBM is as disgusting as the far-left loonies in DC!!
PRESIDENT TALIBANI: Thank you. Thank you, Mr. President, for your kind remarks. It is honor for me to stand here today as a representative of free Iraq. It is an honor to present the world's youngest democracy.
In the name of Iraqi people, I say to you, Mr. President, and to the glorious American people, thank you, thank you. Thank you, because you liberated us from the worst kind of dictatorship. Our people suffered too much from this worst kind of dictatorship. The -- (inaudible)
-- was hundred thousand of Iraqi innocent children and women, young and old men. Thank you, and thanks to the United States, there are now 15 million Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq liberated by your courageous leadership and decision to liberate us, Mr. President.
This was beautiful! I can't believe that all they found worthy from this is a response to a stupid question. Truly pathetic!!!
They can't let the American people know that President Bush is much respected abroad, and that liberating Iraq was a wonderful thing.
The media want so badly for the American people to hate our President that they lie incessantly, and hide everything good.............and yet 50% of the American people still support him.
If the truth were known about him, he would have a consistent 65 or 70% approval rating.
I know the media sucks. I just have endless amounts of hope that someday it will turn around. I know, I'm a sucker!!
But the MSM's successful attempt to tie the blame for this hurricane to the President, and the continued lying about Iraq, has me more discouraged than I have been in a very long time.
I just want the truth to be known, and with the stranglehold that the lying media have, I just don't know how the problem can be solved.....
I don't think the MSM will turn around so much as it will simply get end-run by the new media, podcasting, etc.
Don't let it get to you! WE know the truth!! There are a lot more of us out there. I really believe that all this BS will catch up to them. We got Bush for another 4 years, didn't we? :o)
By the way, I love all your photos! I'm assuming that is your son and he is adorable! God bless you family!
He loves his Commander in Chief, and we are SO proud of his part in the liberation of the oppressed people of Iraq.
I feel like I've had a small part in this whole process...........and it feels GOOD. :)
